4-5-23   THOUGHTS

Mortal humans are naturally concerned about end things.  We are painfully aware that our lives will end.  What happens then?  If we believe God, we have sufficient information to give us comfort and assurance and hope.  Surely, we don’t know all, but we know enough.  As we enter this reading, we find that we have A PLACE built by God!  We find that “what is mortal will be SWALLOWED UP by LIFE”!  That’s powerful Church!  It says God prepared us for this purpose and gave us the Spirit as a pledge.  We are to be of good courage in our FAITH WALK.  Where we are after this life is painted as BETTER.   Is it our ambition to please God?   A time of reckoning is promised, the life we live determines success or failure in our living.  From our reverence for the One who created us, we are to persuade men!  We want all to have confidence in the end times.

2Cor 5:1-11    For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.  2  For indeed in this house we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven, 3  inasmuch as we, having put it on, will not be found naked. 4  For indeed while we are in this tent, we groan, being  burdened, because we do not want to be unclothed but to be clothed, so that what is mortal will be swallowed up by life.  5  Now He who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave to us the Spirit as a pledge. 6  Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord —   7  for we walk by faith, not by sight — 8  we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.  9  Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him.  10  For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.  11  Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are made manifest to God; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences.
Php 3:20-21   For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;  21  who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.

My Prayer:
O Father, thank you for the wonderful knowledge we have in your word.  You teach us to live, to love and to hope.  You have blessed us perfectly in Jesus the Christ, your son.  Give us your Spirit continually that we may walk by faith and persuade men of eternity in Christ.  Help us to be of good courage, rejoicing in our Lord always.  May the joy of your salvation be our lives.
In the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ,       Amen.
